I think if you have lived here a good while and not experienced some really bad behaviour by the locals you are very lucky indeed. I have experienced personaly a lot of really negative things here which has affected our life big time. Have met the most meanest nastiest greedy people here who do not care if they destroy your life completely.
BUT on the other side of the coin i have personally met the kindest nicest unselfish generous people i have ever met. And these people are really poor but open their doors and share their food. More nice people than bad but the bad give this country a bad rep. My opinion is as with most poor third word countries there is a greater proportion of people willing to scam and steal to survive. No good pretending it doesnt exist here because it does big time.
A lot of people find this site to get information about the country they want to live in, if all they saw was the positive side and never the negatives i think an awful lot of people would come here and fall prey to nearly every scammer going. Better to be honest give your experiences and opinions about life here. Philippimes is great but not for the feint hearted.
