a feel good topic. My very poor neighbors (Jeff) & his wife (NiNi) and their family of 4 children (one retarded) &. Jeff's mother live on about 200 pesos or less a day. NiNi was 7 months pregnant, but went into labor yesterday. Jeff and her went to the Paanakan clinic about 40 meters from their home which has no power or water, furniture, etc. The handsome baby boy was still born. They took him home and into their bed. About 3 hours later, Jeff could hear little cries and gasping sounds. The (free) 9/11 ambulance was called and the little boy was rushed from Toril to a Davao hospital and put in an incubator. He lives! A true miracle. My wife gave Jeff 500 pesos and bought milk for NiNi. We are helping out with rice and dried fish. Jeff is still at the hospital with no way to pay the bill But a anonymous Canadian philanthropist I met through this blog is sending them a generous one time financial gift to cover that cost and more. My wife and I are helping out until that gift arrives. But it is an act of God that this premature infant revives himself after almost 3 hours after being cuddled by his grieving parents in their bed. Amen to that.
