This country is far from perfect. That was one of my attractions to the Philippines when I came over here. I come from the Netherlands, a country that is mainly done. People over there live in a pretty much perfect society and make problems about nothing. While most north americans will look at envy to what the dutch are complaining about (like the 36 hour workweek , or the 100 dollar a month all included health insurance.) They also don’t like people that try new things or come with new concepts.
So when I came over here, I thought, this is a country that is happening. A country where you can launch new ideas. And where you can of course also fail miserably with that but at least it doesn’t cost you a million euro’s.
So I took my time. First looked to the failures and learned from them. And then thought , I should do a reverse Asian trick and take a concept from the west. Make it better and then sell it over here. I have developed a number of concepts. But most of them involve a lot of work and hands on management.
But my income from my internet business and the live style over here made me lazy. I then I started looking around on what to invest in. You can do that from your chair. And so I did. Mainly in trees and land. This year I will also do the same in stone. Stayed active with working for NGO’s that also mainly focus on nature.
I live like a king, eating out a lot, having fun with westerners but also with pinoy. Of course I see what can be better over here. But after almost ten years over here, I decided I will stay here.
And you?
