PNB Bank Account via Maryland

Hello Everyone!

Quick question, does anyone see a down side to opening a PNB dollar bank account (savings and checking) from the USA? There is a remittance center in Maryland (I just found out) that I can open an account at. My wife (Filipina) and I plan to move to the Philippines when I retire in 4 years. We travel back and forth at least once a year and would like the convenience of having an account (and ATM card) that spans both countries. I will also be using this account to (eventually) deposit my pension and Social Security into. Does anyone see a downside to this and does anyone do this now? I also like the idea of opening the account here so I don't have IRS issues in the future. Thanks again and look forward to a good discussion.
