Smoking inlaws

First, I used to visit Philippines often so I am not unfamiliar with the culture (including the culture of 'borrowing' and visa scamming).

I am currently talking with a lady in General Santos about me living there in my retirement years. She is in the construction business and has assets so she is responsible with money.

Nevertheless, I have many other concerns, one of them is her smoking brothers and mother. Whereas they will not smoke inside her house, they will smoke just outside the door and subsequently still smell inside the house.

You can tell I am a non-smoker and cannot tolerate the smell.

Our discussions on that issue aren't getting very far. Unless they don't smoke anywhere near her house, they are not going to do it just because her foreigner husband will ask them.

I believe it will cause resentment with all the associated risks.

Comments anyone?
