Moving to the Philippines

I am a Canadian male who has been living in Colombia for the last 7 years and has grown tired and needs a change. Looking at the Philippines, possibly Cebu and wondering if anyone has thoughts and suggestions. Prices to rent a one or 2 bedroom place furnished, Only serious need is good Internet and power. I ave heard that you can only stay for 1 month at a time and then you have to leave for 3 days and return for another month, are there any other options? Let me know your thoughts and suggestions. Thank you!
