Safe to travel at this moment?

With the new president siding with China and the subsequent student riots in Manila in the last day....is it safe to travel there?

I am supposed to be heading there to see my GF at 9pm EST and arriving Saturday 10am Manila time.

Wondering if I should cancel the trip??
