Whether you are an American, from the UK or any other Democratic country that is an Ally, I would like to ask you one question:
Would you give up your passport to hold a passport of China or Russia?
No one is perfect (whether it be your girlfriend, your wife or yourself) and there is no perfect country in the world . I definitely don't agree with every U.S. policy or decision the government officials have made over the last 240 years. It's much harder being a world power then a small country. I am proud to be an American an I wouldn't give up my passport for a passport of any other country!!!
I love the Philippines, I lived there for 25 years and plan to be back again soon to retire with my wife and her family. I just hope the present administration doesn't overplay their hand an all the billboards and textbooks end up being in Chinese or Russian.
At the moment if the truth be told the average Filipino despises the Chinese and the average Chinese in the Philippines looks down on the Filipino. I know first hand. My first wife's family were very well known Chinese-Filipino business family.
I understand the politics that are involved. I just hope the President doesn't overplay his hand. It may ruin my retirement plans and probably many other expats plans also.
