Although I've never been to Mississippi (I am a big John Grisham fan), I admit there isn't many people in the New York area either that I trust 100%.
Your future wife may be trustworthy but unless she is an orphan, she has parents, siblings and relatives that have some degree of influence over her. It's hard for many expats to understand this unless they have lived within the Philippine culture for many years. It's not only her, it's also her family that has a great influence over her and your future.
