Health Insurance

I am planning to relocate to the Phil in several years. I am wondering if anyone having lived in the Phil for any length of time can help me out with the health insurance issue. I have been looking into it for some time. I'm aware that after a certain time I can get on Philhealth. But I'm also aware the Philhealth covers the bare minimum and essentially is a medicaid type insurance designed for the Phillipino people. I'm thinking that it is going to require me to purchase private insurance if I want any sort of catastrophic coverage. I think I understand that going to the hospital in the Phil is not quite as scary financially as it is in the US. At any rate I would like to hear from some people that have experience with the Philippino medical industry. Thanks for your time.
