Will be in Davao City September 8-14

Hello, my girlfriend and I will be staying in Davao city from September 8-14 and am wanting to check out the city, and consider it for a future place to live with her 8 y/o son. We will be hoping to maybe meet expats and talk about places with a good school for her son and safe places to live in the area in or around the city. Also would like some advice about places to visit as well as things to do on our visit. We will be staying in a condo on nicasio Torres street. Any advice or maybe nice people to meet and talk with would be greatly appreciated.
