I have been reading posts for a couple of months and have learned a lot and gained some insights and perspectives from you guys. My thanks to all of you that have posted and shared their experiences and insights. It is very helpful to someone like me who is planning on moving from the US to the Philippines. I decided to join now that I’m about one year from retiring and beginning more serious planning for the move to the Philippines after a few years of just thinking about it.

My wife is from Cebu and after many discussions it is most likely we will retire somewhere on that island probably somewhat close to Cebu City where she grew up but most likely on the north side in one of the town/cities that she is also familiar with. I have visited the Philippines only 3 times in 1986, 2003 and 2016. The first 2 times were almost exclusively in Cebu City but the last time we ventured out to Leyte and Bantayan Islands and spent some time in northern Cebu province.

Anyway, I don’t really have any questions or hot topics right now but just thought I’d introduce myself. I look forward to continuing to learn from you guys and participating in some of the discussions.
