Shopping and Dining in Manila

After 2 months in metro Manila, specifically Quezon City, I have a couple of observations about shopping and dining out:

First, it is a pleasure to shop in the retail stores here because they have so many clerks on the floor and they are very helpful. You can actually find someone to answer a question . Most of the time if you ask where something is, they will take you there and help you select the item. This is in sharp contrast to the total lack of help in most US stores.

Second, the grocery stores actually have most things I am used to buying in the US, it is just hard to find. Of course some items are US only and that is fine--adapt. Being here is a choice I made.

Third, the service in restaurants is pretty good especially considering how busy they are, but the food quality is generally poor regardless of price point. It is really hard to find a top quality meal.

All that said, it is a great place and I am having fun.
