Brand, Spankin' New Here: HELP!

Greetings to one and all.

Well, like the "Topic Title" says, I'm brand, spankin' new to both this forum and the expectation of relocating to Philippines.

I won't yet, unless some really want to know, get into my personal details...a long and boring story.

I will say, however, that at this time, based on my current situation and information I've gleaned from others, I will be taking pretty much nothing with me: my vehicle, tools, most of my clothes, ummm...you know...all of the stuff I've accumulated over the years. I would like to take all my computer gear, my dogs, hot-weather clothes and well, I guess that's about it. So I think that topics related to Shipping will not be necessary.

Having said that, I REALLY want to take my dogs with me. My understanding is that there is a one-month-long quarantine. But I would like to not only verify that, but also find a site (or more than one) that can accurately speak to the facts, the process and others who have relocated their pets.

The plan at this time is to live, at least for a little while, near Bacolod (Negros Occidental). Later I would like to be on some acreage for the sake of privacy, lower costs (generally), being quieter (presumably) and away from touristy areas, growing some food and raise some farm animals, and generally getting away from larger population areas.

At this point I know we newbies can be kind of a pain: a thousand questions and few answers, if any. So all I'm asking at this time is for recommended reading, both here and elsewhere, for someone in my general situation. Again, legitimate and fact-filled websites related to my dogs' relocation are very welcome.

Oh, I suppose I should add that I'm in my 60s, and understand that Philippines has some "unique" programs/incentives for people like me. So I have visited the Bureau of Immigration website (http://www.immigration.gov.ph/), but I am sure I need to invest quite a bit of time there to get up to speed on things. If someone can provide me a shortcut through that morass (no criticism intended), I'd be grateful.

Lastly, I'm a Christian and would love to meet / chat with others EE members, both here in the US and abroad.

Thank you all for your consideration, and whatever assistance/guidance you provide.

Carpe diem!
