Vaccine politics

The Philippines is great in many ways. I lived there for 25 years and I plan to retire there in a few years. I'm fortunate that I have several well connected friends. The health minister is blocking private importation of vaccines unless he gets his cut. This stuff goes on in the Philippines all the time. I'm sure it happens in the U.S. and other countries too but on a much higher level that we don't hear about. Lucio Tan (owner of Philippine Airlines/SM department stores) was importing a large quantity of Mederna Vaccines. He was told he had to pay 35% under the table to get approval. My friend is in business with his daughter Christina. My other friend's company supplies McDonald's with ingredients. They are being charged 20% to bring in Vaccines. As one of their supplies their company is being offered the Vaccines also. Apparently the Senate is trying to remove the Minister of Health but he has higher up connections that is protecting him. That's life in the Philippines.... I'm still looking forward to moving back in a few years.
