PhillyInthePhilippines - Do Not retire in the Philippines (if Video)

Hi all. For those contemplating a relocation, I stumbled across this Awesome video on Youtube last night:

https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=QbJGn55pDdQ

This Expat of about 7 years lays out who SHOULD NOT retire in the Philippines. My wife and I watched and nodded in rapt attention.

It's instructive to hear this as you see his pitying, knowing expressions... as he speaks from authority (even if you academically know it).

I thought it was worth sharing. From memory, I'll give some spoilers.

Who he says, "Should not retire in the Philippines":
1) People who have never been to the Philippines
2) People who have never stayed more than 2 weeks -- not matter how many visits
3) People who are lack patience
4) Hot Heads (Impulsive/confrontational people)
5) People who refuse to comply with local government/ordnance
6) Anyone who wants to engage in local politics or politics at all
7) Anyone who lacks ongoing income stream
8) People who can not tolerate Animals (Sounds or smells)
9) People who can not tolerate noise
10) People who can not tolerate the smell of burning trash
11) People unwilling to stand in line 1-2 hours at a bank/store
12) People who hate traffic (re: patience)
13) People inclined to argue with neighbors
14) People who resist authority like Mall Cops telling you not to record a video in a mall
15) Your only visit was one swept up in romance, parties, and mania of excitement/adventure.
16) You don't have enough money to pay outright for catastrophic emergencies on the spot.
17) You think you can get a job... or you will need to get a job
18) You rely on credit (instead of savings)
19) You have a one-time settlement, cash-out, or fixed savings (with no ongoing income stream), and think you can stretch it until retirement begins for a regular stream.
20) You are broke and have no back-out plan.
21) Anyone who is inclined to Insult a Filipino (evidently, there is a law against foreigners doing this!)

It's not a bad list. I thought it was worth sharing. My summary might be out of order... since I watched this yesterday.

Enjoy!
Asawa
