Expat Dog Owners

What type/breed of dog(s) do you own? My neighbors own breed dogs (Border Collie, Belgian Malinois, German Sheperd, Golden Retriever, etc...) But I've been told that the Askal or Aspin (Philippine dog) is the best df mongrel dog to own in PH. Low maintenance, not picky w/ food, loyal to owner, agile, and just the right size to have in the Philippines. Right now I'm deciding whether to go for a Belgian Malinois or a regular Askal or Aspin. Any input would be appreciated.
