Dogs in the Philippines

I try not to give comments unless I think they may be useful or if I can't resist. Unfortunately some people have an answer for everything or may pretend to be an expert on every topic. So I just want to set the record straight

I don't claim to be an expert on many things but the things I know, I know well. I lived in the Philippines for many years. Entrenched in the Philippines dog world and society. The Philippine Canine Club Inc (PCCI). counter part to the AKC or The Kennel Club (UK), I was a Director of for over 10 years and my wife was the former President of the Club. When I was involved we had 34,000 members. Most of the members are upper class or wealthier individuals in the country because of course purebred dogs are expensive by Philippines standards. So there are several hundred thousand purebred dogs in the Philippines. Many of which have been 1st, or 2nd generation imported from abroad. We've had famous Judges from over 20 different countries come to the Philippines to judge Dog Shows. I, mysef was Chairman of the Show Committee for 10 years. NO ONE IS GOING TO STEAL A PUREBRED DOG TO EAT!!! There are still many good imported dog foods available in the Philippines. Everything from Pedigree (Masterfoods Philippines Inc/Mars Company) available in grocery stores to Eukanuba, Science Diet, Meradog (Germany), Royal Canin (France). In the late 70's people used to feed Sawdust (meat), corn meal and rice. If you can afford it, it shouldn't be necessary today. I guess Filipinos may still feed these mixtures or Ulam with rice to their native dogs but it's certainly not necessary. If you can afford to buy a purebred dog you can afford to buy good food for it. I'd be glad to answer any questions that may help anyone interested with dogs or dogs in the Philippines.
