Should I do it

Hello All,

I'm a 40 year old Canadian guy looking to move to the Phillipines. I've been twice before and love the country. Currently, I have a good government job in Canada but am sick of winter and the expensive living. If I "Retire" I could get a payout of around $300k Canadian. Obviously that wouldn't last forever, but I am hoping that after a year I could work (modest income ok) I come from the social services field so was thinking of working for a charity. Dumaguete, Cebu, Boracay all appeal to me but am open to other areas (would want something semi urban). I'd be open to one bedroom accommodation (ideally close to amenities). I own a home in Canada so I would be using it as an investment while in Phil, but it won't provide much of a monthly income (maybe 2-300).

Basically, what I'm looking for is recommendations, warnings or in a perfect world someone with a similar story.
