Basics on moving, living, costs, pitfalls, island locations

My idea as of now is to try move there for at least a few years and find one of the more Southern islands that has a balance of modern conveniences and beaches not too crowded, I've been watching lots of youtube and reading blogs etc.

I'd probably like to narrow down 3 geographic choices and spend the first month seeing all 3 and then make a decision. Any advice is very welcome, I'm a well traveled experiened person, pretty much know the street smart level pitfalls, scams and hazards etc but I'm always open to learning so dont hesitate, all advice is welcome, thanks in advance.
