I just wanted to share the thought that wise Expates may wish to consider themselves to be honored guests for as long as they choose to stay.
As with other guests, hospitality can be revoked or withdrawn. There are certain norms and expectations related to courtesy and conduct.
You are staying at the pleasure of others, so patience, tolerance, and civility are important. You don't want to offend your host. You should be gracious of belief and customs. Be kind and thoughtful about local beliefs... and respectful in how you treat others.
Of all the possible attitudes you can embrace, I personally believe this is the best long-term attitude if you wish to remain a permanent guest in high standing.
Just my thought of the day...
