Generator?

Anybody know what is best to survive brownouts? We will be using a 1hp up to 2hp AC, a fan, 55" tv apprx. Playstation 4, and electric lights (we haven't bought any of these yet, we will be replacing the stuff we had). I do not know the wattage but I am guessing around 3k or less... We are looking at generators, when I was there in the 80's I was told that diesel is the best. I'm planning on putting 3K solar in, maybe not right away saw a guy advertising something around 40K pesos was solar panels, inverter etc and install on facebook. Just wondering...We live in a Suburb of Bacolod City which is not one of the choices here...
