PNP query

My wife was just contacted today by our barangay counselor. She wanted personal details regarding me, such as residence location, nationality, DOB, immigration status, etc. to pass on as a reply to a request made, according to her, from the PNP. Has anyone else had this happen to them? I just want to live peacefully here and am nervous about providing any unnecessary information to a police organization with a history of shake-downs and corruption. If they need to talk to me about something, I'm easy to find. Immigration has all the information they would need, I have Permanent Resident status. I see this as an infringement of my civil liberties. Am I over reacting?
