Tagaytay area

Does anyone have any knowledge of/experience in the greater Tagaytay area, in particular, but not exclusive to, Alfonso, Mendez, and surrounding towns/cities? For instance, congestion, climate, convenience, real estate, safety, etc. I am very attracted to Tagaytay but am concerned about growing congestion even if only on weekends, as well as it's affects on real estate and safety. I am interested in the cooler climate and calmer lifestyle and don't mind traveling an hour to get to shopping once a week so perhaps the areas surrounding Tagaytay might fit the bill.
