Anyone moving a whole or half Cargo Container?

A question: Did anyone on the forum use a half or full cargo container and an international mover? If so, what was your experience like?

For our first 6-12 months, we intend to limit our selves to 5 Balikbayan boxes (each), and we'll send them ahead to a relative to store until we can arrive.

For the remainder we are debating whether to sell, donate and discard everything... or hire an international mover to deliver a half/whole cargo container "somewhere" after we get settled.

We don't need everything, but we have some furniture, fitness equipment, and decor that would be nice to have. We'd be ok with a 3-9 month delivery wait time or costs up to $12,000 USD.

However, we'd just as soon leave everything behind if it's going to be a nightmare or go missing, We also wouldn't want to be extorted or pay excessive VAT tax to release a shipment.

We'd like to try if it's just complicated or expensive. We don't want to bother if it's ill advised and likely to end in disaster.

Any thoughts or experiences?
