Where To Live In & Around Lisbon

Hi, my husband and I are moving to Lisbon in the near future. We want to live somewhere affordable, near a park or the coast. We would like to find an apartment/house that is old rather than modern. We have dogs so would prefer to live on a ground floor. Would anyone be able to suggest neighborhoods or towns outside the city that we should look at. I have heard of Cascais but it sounds like it would be too expensive for us. Thank you!
