Relocating to Doha from London

Hi,
Im moving to Doha in 1 months time to work.
I was wondering if I am better off waiting to buy a laptop when I arrive there? I will need it to keep in touch with friends and family but I have been told they are much cheaper to buy over there than in the UK?
Can any one give some advice?
