Buying a homestead in Scotland

Hi all,

we are considering moving from England to Scotland to start a small homestead and a different life. We are from the EU and live in England since 2014, but know nothing about Scotland. We have several doubts and questions not answered and hope someone can help with some answers:

Why are house prices much lower in Scotland than in England?
Is it difficult to have a homestead in Scotland?
We are thinking of having some land to live more off-grid and self-sufficient, and at the same time start glamping with yurts tourism (is there someone doing it? is it a good idea?
If someone can help us out to make up our minds with some good advice, that would be great. Many Thanks
