Investing in the UK as a US citizen

Hi all,

I'm a Scottish guy who happens to also be a US citizen. While I'm very grateful to be lucky enough to have access to both countries etc, the US tax stuff is so annoying. If I ever try to sign up for a trading service, the first question is "do you have US citizenship". If I say yes, I can't use the service. But equally, I can't invest from the US because I don't have a residence there. I did make an account on Charles Schwab International but the fees are awful and you can't invest in index funds. Basically, I just want to start with S&P 500.

Anyways, does anyone know of trading services that work in the UK if you're a US citizen? All help is appreciated greatly.
