Ireland offers an "independence means" visa ... Italy offers "elective residency" and Jure Sanguinis options ...

Is there a way to obtain a long-term (one year or longer) visa to stay / live in Scotland?

I'm familiar with the 6-month option, and grateful for that, but if there's a "how to" on, well, how to stay for one year or longer at a time, Karen and I would welcome that knowledge.
