Wife Work Visa

Hi All - we are considering a relo to Singapore in the next 6 months and are blown away at the cost of housing. We are a family of 6 (3 kids and a nanny). It looks like we will be spending $4-5000 USD/month for housing at minimum? WOW! We still haven't narrowed down a specific district so maybe it will change - that leads me to this question. I have read that I (wife) would be able to work in Singapore legally. Is that right - is the visa process easy? Are others doing so? Would love to know your thoughts.
