Live cheap in singapore

Hi,
I am going to Singapore to study business management and I have two questions for all of you :)

How can I find a room or a small apartment there. I don't want any luxury and like it very simpel, just nead a bed, a kitchen and a toilet. I don't have to live central but a subvay quite colse. And a cheap rent ofcourse.

My secound question is if anyone qnow a good university and if anyone is willing to help me to aply because the pepole in sweden working with schools in singapore are not so god at it.
