International Community School review

Hi! I just wanted to share my experience for parents who may be considering ICS for your children.
We were very excited at our initial tour because of the friendliness on campus and the sense of community we felt. So we joyfully enrolled our three children.
At first, they loved it too. We had one in elementary, one in middle school and one in high school.
Parents, please beware. There is a deep undercurrent of dishonesty amongst the faculty of the school. Several of the high school teachers cross the line of professionalism and encourage friendship with the students, even having them over to there homes with no other adult supervision. This is what happened to my daughter. The teachers promise to keep confidences from the parents and as a result, my daughter started deceiving us. Part of the problem involved the high school student body, There was so much pressure. My Daughter told us weekly of suicide attempts by her friends.
The middle school was better. My son was a student ambassador and on student council. He thrived. The majority of teachers there were in close communication with parents. However, because the school observed a steep drop in enrolment from middle to highschool, they mistakenly diagnosed it as the fault of a “too big transition”. Now the school has basically combined middle with highschool. This is why we withdrew our son.
Our youngest son was in elementary. He faced bullying to the extent of having night terrors and begging not to have to go to school. When we approached the principal about this, the blame was placed on us. In spite of weekly counselling, our son still dreaded going to school. Never did he, or our other children, have these issues in the States. We withdrew him at the end of the year
There is a false front to ICS. Parents, please be warned.
