Moving to Jo'burg

I am planning on moving to Jo'burg in the next few months and would like to have some tips on what I should expect in terms of rentals (best places to rent), and would like to know about security, how serious is it? also I have a 4 year old that is accompanying me and my wife, is there any good schools in the city that she can join.
