Residency/Tax options

I will be moving to Spain in a month. I already have my residency visa issued from the SF consulate. I plan to stay in Spain five years, beyond that I cannot say. I have been told that there may be tax advantages to NOT exercising my residency option, i.e., staying as a non-resident living in Spain. I don't own Spanish real estate at this time. Can anyone advise on this issue? Or alternatively recommend a Residency/Tax abogado in the Barcelona area with whom I can consult? Thanks.
