Cost of living

I am an author, so don't need to find real employment! I am also just looking for rental property, not to buy anythingI want to move to Spain. I don't have to be in Madrid, which I suspect is the most expensive, but have lived as an expat in small towns in Latin America and would like to be close to a city. I'm allso considering Greece, and Portugal. I'd like to consider France, but suspect it is too pricey. I survive rather well in the US on $1,000 a month. I would appreciate any thoughts on the cost of living from people who know. In return, if anyone wants to know anything about Mexico living, I will be happy to oblige. See www.mexicomike.com which has much of what you need to know for free. Mike Nelson.
