Working from Spain but UK tax payer - Tax requirements

I work for a UK IT services company and want to relocate to Spain, work from home but continue working on UK contracts. I have been onto Tax office and they say that I can stay as UK tax payer providing I return to UK for 183 days per year or 91 days per year over four year period. My manager's, the customer are agreeable for me to work this way. But in HR the company are saying that this is not the case and that they have to set up a separate payroll for me in Spain? I am trying to get over this hurdle as so may people tell me that this is not the case. So to sum up I would be wroking from home as I do normally but in Spain instead but would continue working for my comapny as normal.Still be paid in UK, pay tax in UK. What woukd I have to pay to the Spanish? I think there is a double taxation treaty with Spain whereby you only have to pay tax in one country. Are there any taxes that do need to be paid to Spanish?
