schools and can we live there without large amount of paperwork for visas etc

Any information on how easy the process is to live there from the U.S. to Spain. I will retire in January so I am not planning to work. Any information on schools that are not private or too terribly expensive for English speakers. I think eventually the kids will learn Spanish well but want to start them in English speaking school first.
