3-6 months

I'm a EU citizen (dual citizen with Canada) that resides in Canada. My wife is Canadian. We would like to spend winters in Spain. 90 days in 180 day span seems easy, even residency of 183+ days is easy to understand. However I would like to spend 4-5 continuous months in Spain during our long winters without giving up my primary residence in Canada which means I must spend 6 months plus a day in Canada.

I know I will have to consult a lawyer just trying to under stand is there something between the 90 day rule and permanent residency?

Thanks for any help you can give me.
