Puerto de Mazzaron vs Los Alcazares

I've visited the port area a couple of times, its beautiful but outside of summer seems quiet with not much to do other than enjoying the beautiful beaches and nature. Los Alcazares seems fun, we've not visited yet but ideally would like some tranquility but with close proximity to entertainment and culutral things. What would you recommend, best areas to visit or move to?
