Current state of affairs in SL

After coming back to this country after staying away for 10 years, a lot have changed.

Normally looking at a country in this part of the world and with the speed it was developing then, I did expect some of my finer memories to stay just that - memories - as a result of modernisation.

But to my surprise I see that mostly nothing changed. There are more cars, not better cars, just more. The roads are still the same, though not so well cared for anymore and the mending made lately is of a very poor quality.

People are aggressive and abusive, no manners left from before. They behave like vultures around a meal when one show up in the area.

The english has detoriated to a simple yes / whatdoyouwant / whereareyougoing .

If you would feel tempted to answer the question there will be no one to understand your answer and you soon decides it is better to just not answer at all. One becomes very rude very fast.

The economy have dropped down to a very low level, and I saw that with a rupie at 50% of its former value 10 years ago, the number of motorbikes sold in the country is down to 20% of the former value.

I have no words for what have happened with this country, but the pride and the beaty is all gone, there are garbage every where expect where it belongs, in the concrete collectors.

People below 30 - 35 has lost interest of their country and the criminality has rised as a result of losing their morals.

I would not recommend a family with children to move here permanantly, not even to go here on vacation.

A couple of grown ups can handle the stress better, but honestly, there are better places to choose.

This said, I love the nature, whats left of it, and the country side people and the older population, they still have the true Sri Lankan spirit, even though they are quickly loosing their fate as well.
