In need of infos about Negombo area

Hi there,
I am moving to Negombo area in January and would like to know a few things about it...How big is the expat community there, are there any yoga classes, what are the safest beaches to swim ??
I have heard of Kochchikade, Katana, Talahena, Palangathure, Pamunugama, Daluwakotowa...can you describe a bit these places for me :)
Any sort of social clubs ?
Best addresses to buy bed sheets, towels etc...?
