I am moving to Zurich to join my fiance, who is a Swiss citizen in December. We plan on filing all the paperwork to get married once I arrive (cleared that it is ok to do this through the consulate and the civil registry in Dietikon (the suburb of Zurich he lives in and where we will be married).
Anyway, my questions are more so related to getting my stuff over there and getting settled.
I am trying to move as little as possible, to keep costs down. Has anyone used a service to move a pallet's worth of belongings? If so, how expensive was it, and did you need your paperwork showing residency before you moved your things?
Once I have my B permit, what kind of work have any of you found that you could do? The embassy told me there are no restrictions on what kind of work I could do, as long as I was qualified for the job. My fiance has seen people with B permits turned down for warehouse jobs (where the applicant had experience). Has anyone had experience with this?
Has anyone taken an immersion language course? What did you use? And did you have difficulty using High German with the Swiss? (and could you understand Swiss German??).
I've been to Switzerland three times already, and i'm comfortable with the way of life there. I jsut want to ensure my transition there is pretty smooth for both myself and my fiance. Thanks! :)
