Tax issues

Hello,
I would be interested to know if any US resident moving to Switzerland has been surprised by the relatively high tax rate.
On a gross salary of 150,000CHF with a wife and daughter and assuming the acquisition of a villa, I will be paying around 40,000CHF.
With the 20,000CHF of contributions that makes 60,000CHF.
I thought that Switzerland was fiscally "cheap".
A couple of questions :
1) How does the pension scheme work - is it personal, like a 401K?
2) I recently heard of a bill that may pass to reduce income tax - any progress?
Thanks in advance.
TH
