Moving to Basel in a month! Seeking job, entertainment, friends!

Hello. My boyfriend got a job in Basel so we will be moving in about a month. We lived in Lausanne for a year while he got his MBA so I am familiar with the Swiss-French. However, I have been told the Swiss-Germans are a bit more uptight and more reserved. I'm currently learning to speak German... which I'm having a rough time with! I would like to work... any advice? Any tips on fun and entertaining places to go/visit? I'm very excited! And I of course want to make some friends! any advice there? Thanks!!
