Visa C for US citizens

I am a citizen of US and have been living in Switzerland in the canton of ZH for 5 years on a visa B, initiated by my current employer.
I was told before that US citizen can get cisa C after 5 years living in the country on visa B.
Does anyone know if it is still the case for US residents after CH has changed their rules for the residents from EU?
What do I need to apply for visa C?
I appreciate your answer and/or advice.
