Age a factor in obtaining work permit?

I am thinking of relocating to Switzerland. I want to move to Europe. I am 46 now. I am pretty sure that I can get a job there now. HOWEVER, I worry taht when I am 56, the government may not want me to stay there anymore due to my age.

I have heard of this happening in other countries even for doctors and engineers, Canada e.g. They just don't want to incur the health costs so even if the person has a job, the government does not renew the permit.

Does anybody know if Switzerland follows this policy? (Of course it would not be an official policy. Just an informal one).

Anybody heard about this?
