Rental agreement retiree

We’re hoping to move to Vaud, at least for a few years on a non gainful employment basis. .We believe we have sufficient financial means to obtain the appropriate residence permit. However almost all rental applications I see are asking for a copy of a work contract. Has anybody been able to rent without a work contract, assuming you can prove sufficient financial resources? Many thanks.
