I joined the forum to ask this question. My wife is Thai and for a decade we've been planning to retire to the South. Thailand is currently rated as a dictatorship by the US State department. There have been incidents where foreign capital has fled Thailand en masse, and recent adverse news coverage is certain to lower property values. I am keenly aware that Thai people cannot talk about the future of their country. We had planned to buy a place, but now not even sure Thailand is a good idea. Imagine, for example, tax authorities going door to door to assess property taxes and arresting people who fail to pay. I've spent a total of several years in BKK and Udon, and I know it always seems relatively harmless but reports are that red shirts are being arrested and executed. Anyone else worried about a change in the weather?
