Chiang Mai vs. Bangkok

I'm moving in May and haven't decided if I'll land permanently in Chiang Mai or Bangkok. May spend a month in each. Have been many times before, but it's different deciding where to rent. What do you find are the pros and cons of each city? Thanks for the help.
